Bilston Primary School - Final Year Project as part of the Bilston Urban Village Regeneration Scheme:
As part of my final year at University, I was assigned a brief from a real-world client (Wolverhampton City Council) who was looking to include a new primary school at a set location within the Bilston area of Wolverhampton. This was part of a regeneration scheme covering a much wider area. The brief was basic in it's content and much of the design decisions were left to each student's discretion:
-
2 form entry (60 Students per year)
-
Contextual considerations in relation to surroundings
-
Area considerations both internal and external
-
Minimising finances in construction
-
Utilising surrounding contours to full advantage
-
Determining the most suitable and efficient access points; both vehicular and pedestrian
-
Consideration of secure design for both students and neighbouring residents
-
Utilising surrounding landscaping to full effect
-
Maximising environmental performance through minimised energy usage and green design
-
Adaptable and flexible design
