Dynamo

Perhaps one of the more promising discoveries in 2015 was a little something called Dynamo. A BIM extension which works with Revit to great effect via an Object Oriented Programming interface. Granted, this is something which a lot of people wouldn't even know where to start with; however, with an A Level background in coding I thought this was a great way to put that qualification to good use.

I'm still working my way through the tutorials supplied by the people behind Dynamo and even that has come to something of a standstill at the moment, but I will continue to learn this as I really do think this is where BIM is going to be heading.

This whole thing started out when I decided to (Rather optimistically) take on the Heydar Aliyev Centre in Revit. I'm sure anyone who knows what that building is can appreciate how much of a gargantuan and mind-boggling task it would be. In the midst of this project, I was attending an event with an Autodesk stall helpdesk where I asked about potential ways to go about this modelling project.

In short, the response was Dynamo. This would eventually be able to enable Revit users to tackle insanely complex geometries and organic structures; alas, this is not going to be an overnight project. But I'm nothing if not determined!

Below are a few screenshots from my initial works with Dynamo. I am also maintaining a blog to document and instruct in the use of Dynamo at http://brdynamobim.blogspot.co.uk/ - This is currently on hold until time permits me to continue.. Until then!
